We have stayed at the Locanda four times, most recently to celebrate an anniversary, when the staff could not have been kinder. It is tucked away off the busy Strada Nova and delightfully secluded and quiet. Cannaregio’s lovely fish restaurants are a 10-minute walk away and the rest of Venice is at your feet. The Locanda has a landing stage for water taxis and is conveniently placed near a traghetto point and a vaporetto stop. It is on an upper floor of an ancient palazzo (there is a lift!), set back from a courtyard complete with wellhead. Marta and her staff are friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is relaxed and homely.The rooms are clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped, with good bathrooms, and the lounge area has balconies over the Grand Canal and a selection of books to suit all tastes and ages. There is plenty of choice at the buffet breakfast and free wifi access is provided. Rates are very reasonable and the whole experience is delightful.
